Halloween, Christmas Wish item #7 & The Holiday25 Sale

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorized1 Comment

How was your Halloween? Ours was great.
I got a little creative with dinner. We enjoyed mini pumpkins, banana ghosts, apple mouths & a side of Mummies.

B transformed into the long haired Rapunzel with her ever faithful friend Pascal.

O fought crime as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Raphel.

One of first stops was to see B & O’s great grandparents.

It’s become tradition that we doing our trick or treating with our friends & the kids had a blast together collecting candy. Once we got home Rapunzel & Raphel tried to make sense of all of their loot & watched It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown with Daddy.

If you recall on my Fall 2013 wish list here I had included plum as a colour I was loving & I have yet to incorporate plum into my wardrobe. I hope to with this Rebecca Minkoff Mini Lucious Hobo bag.
This is #7 on my Christmas Wish List.

I love the colour.
I am especially smitten with the mini gold studding down the sides & the black & white fabric inside.

My Take On This Room #1 – Glam Goodness

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

Happy Halloween!
While looking through the Delos Rug catalogue I came up on this picture and completely fell in love.
There is so much goodness, I don’t even know where to start!

Velvet & lots of it
Luscious drapery
Big funky lamps
Cocktail table
Amazing colour
Textures
Sea Urchin ceiling fixture
Playful accessories
Simple & statement making rug
I like a rug to say something & have some balls.
I would rather a solid or texture fabric on furniture pieces, then have some fun with the floor, art, drapery & pillows.
Here is, My Take On This Room.

lamps
spike ball

See you tomorrow & try not to eat too much candy!

Tuesdays New Found Fabulousness…That I Need in My Life

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

I have made a few amazing discoveries that I would love to add to my home.
I had to share them with you & it got me thinking about a new series

I have long lusted over this Worlds Away cocktail table for my living room forever.
The marble & minimal gold leaf leg is simple perfection in my eyes.
However, this Caracole discovery has me torn.

I would also be willing to give left arm up for a pair of these babies, to perch on either side of the fireplace.

via

While on the business of pairs, 2 of these would be very statement making in a foyer or upper hall.

Unfortunately, we have no wall space for them.
They are big for my very narrow foyer, but they will remain in my back pocket for a rainy day!

We have been lightly considering a new living room light fixture. The trick it’s got to be BIG, we currently have one but it’s too petite for the size of the room & the 18’ft high ceiling.

I’m contemplating these amazingly large but very different lights.
My favourite is this one available from Black Rooster.

There is also this classic Jonathan Adler number.
I’m loving the combination of white, chrome & the grey linen shades.

Well, that’s all she wrote for today.
I have more newfound fabulousness to share with you next Tuesday.

Juggling & some pretty stuff

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorized3 Comments

Good Monday.
I have nothing planned for today. To be honest I’m feeling a little zonked.
I’ve sprinkled some pretty images throughout this post in hopes of not boring you.

I always have a few things on my plate, currently I’ve got:
This blog
My own design business (that is essentially part time)
I spend 1 day a week at my old design firm
A set of almost 5 year old twins
So, I thought that I’d like to do something else that really involved being around other people, because most of my work is spend by myself.

via
I got a part time job, in a home decor retail store. It’s a busy place. Designers love it for accessories, but we also do in home consultations, custom furniture, you name it!
It’s been a bit of an adjustment. I have been my own boss for years so, someone telling me what to do is the hardest part. I do enjoy the fact that I can go do my job & leave – there’s no homework.

via
Working Saturdays doesn’t bother me – it gives the Mr. some well deserved fun time with the kids.
What really kills, is the arranging who’s picking up from school, who’s taking the kids to their karate & dance classes – and the constant in & out of the car seats from one vehicle to another.
Thanks goodness for Mom’s – mine & my Mr.’s
I’m also missing the multiple yoga classes a weeks, it’s been 2 weeks since my last class & the 2 weeks before that were scarce – Christine said “This job is interferring with our yoga” & it’s true.

via
Not to mention that my house inside & out looks like a tornado hit it & that the laundry pile is getting bigger by the second.
I dont know how parents of young kids work full time, juggle the kids, school, home, home work, groceries, cooking, packing lunches & make time for yourselves. It’s tough.

via
So high 5’s to all of you who do it & do it well!
I might need to read a page out of your book.

A Mini Make Over

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorized1 Comment

One of my gal pals asked me to help her with some pillows & accessories to give the family room a bit of a lift.
Below are the before pics of the space.

They already painted the walls, built ins & ceiling white. The walls & were very creamy beige & the ceiling was pink, think dusty rose pink! It’s amazing how bright the room is now.
We ventured off to HomeSense to make our purchases.
We had 2 colour schemes in mind.
The first included varying shades of teal, green, natural linen & hints of gold metallic. We used the piece of art over the fireplace for inspiration.
The second was made up of natural linen, taupe, greys & gold metallic, for a softer feeling.
Here are the afters.

As you can see we went with the taupe, grey & metallic gold scheme.
I love mixing colour, texture, shape, size & pattern when it comes to pillows. We have 6 different fabrics happening with the pillows alone!
The rug doesn’t look so bossy now & the beautiful piece of art over the fireplace really stands out. The simplicity of the styling on the bookshelves allows each piece to be highlighted.
For the accessories, all we purchased was the multi coloured glass vase on the top left shelf and the pair of silver obelisks on the console. All of the other pieces already belonged to my friend, it really pays to shop your home.
Have a great Tuesday.
