Fit For a Lively Little Girl!

Well, I sat down with B and together we can up with the plan for her bedroom.
B definitely has her own thoughts on what she likes, I figured it’s her room and she should have some input.
I’m not the type for a juvenile themey room. I prefer a room that the child can grow into. Maybe you change the bedding, art & some accessories as they grow up, but the main base of the room remains. This is the smarter way to go if you ask me.
Let’s face it, if it’s theme based, in a few short years you’ll be taking down the Disney wallpaper, nothing against Disney, it’s just not my bag!
Here is what B & I came up with together – I think we make a good team!
The existing drapery is staying, B loves them and for me they were an investment. I’m thinking about adding some pink or yellow pom poms down the lead edge, but not totally sold on the idea yet! Some pink rick rack will go on the bottom edge of the existing bed skirt. The bed will remain it’s existing colour Benjamin Moore Early Morning with all white bedding. You can see the before pictures here.

I have also settled on the open closet, the mirrored doors will go and I hope to go with something like this.

I thought about papering the inside the same pink polka dot as the ceiling, with the 6 top shelves being glass to display some of B’s pretty things. Crystal pulls for the drawers & the section of the far left will have angles shelves for her shoe collection & we’ll finish it off with some pretty hangers.

I remember when I was about 7 & I went away to sleep over camp for a week. When I returned I came home to a new bedroom, I hope to this for B too!  She is going away for a week in July so that’s when this will all come together.

What are your thoughts on kids bedrooms?

Be sure to come back tomorrow I will have the Master Bedroom Reveal.
Later Tarters!

Galley Wall Greatness

I love the look of a gallery wall.
The eclectic mix of paintings, canvas, prints, framed, unframed & photography, even with a little mirror action thrown in, makes them so beautiful & interesting look at. This is something you can really put your stamp on.
Below is a collection of gallery walls that I have a fondness for.

Do you like the look of a gallery wall?

Have an awesome weekend and to all my fellow Canucks I wish you a wonderful long weekend!

A New Project

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

I met with a new client yesterday who is looking to put some lipstick on her current kitchen.
We want it to look great, with minimal cost and to have it done quickly.
We’ll call this, Project Anthony Court.
Here are the before photos

It’s kinda funny, yesterdays post was on checker board floors and this client has one, but it’s going.
But have no fear, if the stars are all aligned we will be replacing it, with yet another one!  The existing is a very thin, click tile system, but it’s hard to keep clean. I’m setting my sights on a 24 x 24 marble version of deliciousness or a herringbone pattern in a black tile (see below)
I did mention the minimal cost obstacle right?!
I had it all planned out and in my mind & could see it all in place.
Dark lowers with White uppers
Black & White Marble floors & Staircase
The client already has a black granite counter top, white tile back splash that are going to stay along with the taupe walls, I can work with that. Everything else is going to be classic black and white with hits of stainless steel & glass. With that being said here is the line up:
New floor
Black lowers
White uppers
New hardware
 Pendant light over the sink
New glass table and chairs
Large piece of art
Stair railing and treads to become Black
Spindles and risers to become White
There is also a bit of lighting & window treatments required in the reading room & living rooms.
The foyer is also going to get the new flooring and a built -in bench seating with upper storage.
I’m thinking something this this.
Here’s hoping they like my plan thus far, so we can move on to step 2 .
Have a great Thursday friends!

Checkerboard & an Obsession

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

I realize that I promised the Master Bedroom Reveal was going to happen Monday but that didn’t  & I do apologize. The flooring took a little longer than expected. I also I had to take a few of the base rails back to my upholsterer, so I haven’t gotten the bed back together yet. It will be soon, I promise.

I love a good checker board floor, ideally in marble.

The checker board floor has been around forever. I think it goes perfectly with any style of decor. Regency, modern, transitional, french, country the list goes on & on.

I love this too, not necessarily a checker board, but it certainly has the feeling.
I came upon this image over at decor8 and I have been obsessing over it. The colours, windows and that rug. I want to in black for my living room. Anyone know where it’s from?

I’m going to attempt to give a 4year old some eye drops.
O had a little case of the beginnings of pink eye yesterday, and now it’s in both eyes, they were literally glued shut when he woke up this morning.
Poor guy.

Well I’m off to wash everything he has touched!

Thoughts on B’s Room

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

I have been thinking about B’s room for the last few months.
I would like to make it more to her liking.
It was B&O’s nursery, then when O moved into his new room, I painted the bed and dresser, they were mine when I was little.
Now she has her own thoughts on what she likes and I am open to making some changes, within reason, she’s 4 1/2 and if she had her own way everything would be pink and purple with butterflies and glitter.

Here is how the room has evolved from Nursery for two.

B’s Room Now

The bed & drapery are going to stay & I’ll add some new bedding, replace the giant mass produced canvas over the bed. I’d like to remove the mirrored closet doors and do a more styled closet as well.
But as for paint, wallpaper, colour scheme,  art… I have a few thoughts.I’ll create a few design boards to see how all of the elements play together.

Yesterday afternoon my kids class celebrated Mother’s Day & it was the cutest!

They sang songs, presented us with gifts & painted portraits, the Mom’s had to find the ones that looked like theirs.

I’ll be keeping mine forever.
These two are too cute for words – I love them to the moon & back a kajillion times!

A Bit of Sad News & Before & After

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorized3 Comments

Good Morning-

Today post if going to be short & sweet. This has been a sad week for us so far.
My husbands Dad passed away, last Friday, so to be honest it’s been rather hard to concentrate and be creative while putting a post together. Next week will be better.

Onward and Upward we go!

Yesterday I got – Project Hair Salon – client waiting area chairs back after being all beautified & I think they look like a million bucks!
Before

After

I love’m & they are just perfect for the new space.
I purchased them from Moveline Liquidators from $55 each.
My upholsterer did an awesome job on these. It’s amazing what a lick of paint, teal leather and chrome nail heads can do.

I’ve bought quite a few items from Moveline Liquidators and given them new life, but that’s another post.

Also, after a 4 week wait we finally got our hardwood for the bedroom delivered and it’s being installed today. These beauties are also going up in the make up area.

Axis Wall Sonce

I will have a full reveal of the bedroom  Monday – it’s been a year in the making!

Sara Story Design

I came upon this kitchen and it really got my attention, mainly because of the fuchsia ceiling!
After taking a closer look I noticed, the painted wood floors, simple mill work, white walls, art and lighting. This room demands attention but not in a bossy kind of way.
That to me, is good design!
Sara Story is the designer, so I took a peek at her portfolio and I liked what I saw.
I hope you do to.

Unique Lighting, Big Art and Colour – A home run in my books!
This girl also has a line of  fun wallpaper.

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Here is my short list of gift giving ideas.

The Fish Pedicure
Everyone Mom likes a good pedicure especially with the warm weather upon us, but I don’t think that Mom is going to expect this kind of pampering. The Fish Pedicure is the new fad in getting super soft skin, fish literally eat the dead skin off of your feet as you soak then in warm water.

The Book
With the movie just around the corner, give Mom a copy of The Great Gatsby.

The Memory Box
Write Mom a letter to let her know how much you love her. Include some of your favourite pictures of the two of you together, place in a beautiful keepsake box and tie with a lovely ribbon.

Help Another Mom
This is for the Mom who has everything. Help another Mom / Mom to be with Plan
Allow access to a Maternity bed and supplies need to ensure a proper and healthy delivery

 a newborn check up

or
Allow a family access to clean drinking water

There you have it, just a few ideas for Mom!

See you tomorrow

T.G.I.F & Some Organization

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

I can’t believe that I titled this post T.G.I.F. –
I really don’t care a whole lot for that phrase, however I’m very happy that it is Friday.
It seems that there has been multiple things going on everyday this week, with the exception of today, so I will hit the gym and maybe walk over to Liquid Nutrition and get a smoothie.
Then at 2:40 the calm and serenity will come to a screeching halt, as I pick up B&O from school.
I was busy yesterday, with orders to finish & custom coloured samples to get ready for shipping today.
I also added this new Marimekko awesomeness to the shop.

 THERE ARE ONLY 2.
I’m not yelling at you , I just want to make sure you don’t miss that there is only 2 available
I know you want need them so go buy them here, it’s now or never my friends.
I also tackled this hot mess

These are all bills that I look at, pay & then throw in here. Thank goodness my accountant asked me to get something for him, so that forced me to go through all of it & all of this is headed to the shredder.

I am thinking paperless billing is a must!
Even with paperless billing there will be important papers and other stuff that will need proper storage and filing. The Container Store has some cute and on trend options.

See more of what The Container Store has here & they ship to Canada too!

I hope you have a wonderful and fun weekend & I’ll see you back here Monday with some Mother’s Day Gift ideas.

Wall Paper Spotlight & A Change

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

Hello!
If you are a regular here at TPZ you will notice that I have changed up the layout and colours a bit.
I was going for a more simplified vibe. What do you think?

Well let’s get down to business, as they say.

I love a good wallpaper, who doesn’t!

One of my go to fabric sources

also has an amazing wall covering collection and they are beyond fab.
The selection is awesome – there is literally something for everyone from the very traditional to the bold and graphic, killer grass cloths & murals.
I would love to use this paper in B’s room one day.

What did I tell you pretty great, eh? Check out more of their wall coverings here.

Joanne Fabrics is a family run business that began in 1977 and it’s main base in my hometown of Oakville, Ontario Canada.
Joanne supplies to the trade only and ships all over the world. They have a wonderful selection of high quality fabrics, decorative hardware and trims.
It’s super convenient for me, I call in the order hop in my car and in less than 10 minutes I have my product. So if there is something you like let me know and I can order it up and ship it directly to you!

Until we meet again.
