Flying High on a Tuesday

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorized1 Comment

I’m lucky enough to have a client who requires a house full of window coverings.
They live about 4 hours away – to drive, but this girl flew.
In my mind the morning was going to be easy peasy lemomn squeezy (as my daughter would say) as far as getting the kids organized & off to school.

Let’s just say it didn’t go quite like I planned!

Firstly, I woke up about ½ hour later than I wanted, but it was my own fault, I didn’t set my alarm. I got the kids up & dressed. They ate their breakfast while I started the beautification process & got my self organized.
Then things began to fall apart!
Lots of dilly dallying lead to my little man missing his bus.
After I dropped B off, I had to take O to school, half way across town. Before dropping him off I had to get some gas, or we were going nowhere, seriously, the needle was way past the empty mark. By this point I was really needing my Timmy’s fix!
Once I was on the highway I had 45 minutes to get to the airport, park my car & check in.
All the sudden it was red tail lights & moving at a snails pace. 45 minutes later I was entering the MASSIVE parking garage, I was going up the different levels following the signs then I got lost. I kept looking at the clock, I was completely turned around, there were no spots.
I lost my shit!

Finally I found a spot on the very top level, just my luck there were no elevators! I proceed to walk down 8 levels of stairs in boots that were not made for walking- only looking pretty.
 I’m practical that way!

I finally made it to the check in counter & was immediately  told I was too late and I had to take the later flight – WHAT! Did these people not know what I went through to even get here!
Que the tears, yes, I went there! – a skill I inherited from my mother!

It totally worked, but they told me I have to run. So, run like the wind I did! By the time I got to the gate my perfectly applied face was sweaty, God damn it!
I proceed to the gate & the attendant told me I could sit & relax for 10 more minutes.

Once I gathered my thoughts & took a deep breath it was time to board. I was expecting a plane & what I got was a teeny tiny jam packed 20 seater with 2 propellers.  I had the pleasure of sitting next to a man that not only took up his seat but half of mine also, not to mention that he slept most of the way and kept twitching – good times!

I was met at the tinest airport I had been in since 2000 in Cabo San Lucas. Next it was off to meet my client. I took a tour her wonderful home that I had part in redesigning & we got down to the nitty gritty, the window treatments. More on this another day when it’s all been finalized.
After a few hours I found myself back at the airport, in the restaurant enjoying a BIG glass of vino & some of the best pulled pork tacos I have ever had!
How was your Tuesday?

Bedroom Art on the Brain

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorized2 Comments

There is a bare wall in our master & initially thought that I would like to leave it alone, but the more I see it empty, the more I hear it cry out for some attention. I need your help to decide on what I should do.
To refresh your memory here is what our bedroom looks like

My first thought was to frame up this.
Here’s my second option. My husband like this one, wonder why?

Lastly, I could paint an abstract.

What’s your fave? Please help me make a decision.

Christmas Wish Item #3

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

The #3 item on my Christmas Wish List has been an item that I have wanted for a long time.
I have never put it on my list due to the hefty price tag that comes along with it, but since this is a “Wish List” why not, right?!
I know it will find the prefect home on my coffee table.

Need I say more?

A Day of Nothingness….

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

Today is the first day since the kiddies have gone back to school that I have no plans.
So far, I made some eggs with toast & watched this movie.
Do yourself a favour & save the 90 min. doing something else.

If I am watching a movie & it’s bad I will persevere & keep watching, in hopes that it might actually get better.  Unless we are talking about The Dictator, after 15 min we turned that shit off!

We purchased a really nice towel bar & toilet paper holder & since March they have been in their boxes.
I figured today was the day, I was going to install them. Sounds easy enough right……WRONG.
I proceeded to put 9 holes on the walls, so, I am currently waiting for the DAP to dry & will touch up the paint & will enlist the assistance of one of my uncles! Thank the Lord for handy dandy family members:)
I am also going to attempt to wash & fold 3 loads of laundry, or maybe not. I may just watch another movie or continue binge watching season 4 of Californication. God it’s a love hate thing with Hank Moody.

I will finish off this day of peacefulness by taking B to dance class.
While I am there I will have to endure 1 hour of chaos that will test my patience to the inth degree.
There are 2 different classes going on at the same time & I swear each kid in the class has one if not both parents and 1 or 2 younger siblings waiting & watching (I don’t bring O with me, he spends time with his great-grandparents)
Truth be told there is not much watching that goes on, it’s mainly a lot of parents being extreemly loud & telling their kids what not to do, followed by crying & yelling by said children.
The scene that goes on makes me want to stick pins in my eyes & drink heavily.
Oh what we will do with for our offspring.
See you tomorrow

My Current Love Affair…

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

I am currently involved in a love affair, with the intoxicating song
Summertime Sadness which is sung to perfection by the sultry voiced Lana Del Rey

I promise you won’t be able to listen to it just once!
This tune instantly transports me to the late 70’s, to the whole sex, drugs & rock n’roll thing that was happening & I love it!

Christmas Wish Item #2 & Project Maple Ave Updates

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

I have always wanted a cutting board & I don’t mean just any old kind, I mean a Big Thick Ass One!
I’ve been envisioning one that will look great on the counter at all times & if you ask me I think this one from William-Sonoma fits the bill perfectly.

I’m hoping that someone, like my husband…hint hint, will agree with this item & perhaps gift it to me. He will certainly see the benefit of this bad boy! You see I don’t always use a cutting board, for no particular reason, just laziness I suppose & as a result of my laziness our quartz counter top has taken a bit of abuse, in one small area thankfully. So, if this beauty is always out I will have no excuse!
Speaking of counters Project Maple Ave. got some beautiful granite counter tops in the kitchen.
Here are the last sneak peeks until it is completed.

The solid mahogany front entry door was installed.

The stonework in the wine cellar began.

Lastly all of the decorative lighting fixtures have been purchased & here’s just one for your viewing pleasure!

I’m off to see a new project, more on that Monday.

One of a Kind Art for B’s room

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

If you recall, last July I took on making over B’s room while she was with the grandparents for a week at the cottage.
I was & still tickled with the outcome, however I felt that something was missing on this wall.

I contacted this super talented & whimsical artist.

Darcy work her magic & created 2 pieces for B. The only direction I gave her was I wanted animals & 1 to definitely be a fawn & to use these $3 IKEA frames.
Here are the finished pieces.

The kitten & fawn complete the “empty” spaces that were calling out for some love.
I think the lamps shades I covered made a big difference too.
They speak perfectly to the personality of my little B.
If you are wanting some amazing & fun art you must get in touch with Darcy & visit her Etsy shop.
To get your hands a piece of original art is not as expensive as you might think.
Not only is Miss Darcy one of the sweetest people I have ever met she oozes fun, creativity & talent.
Also, if you are in the Oakville area you must sign your little ones up for one of the many classes she offers or even host a birthday party at her shop Tea with Gladys.
An upcoming event on October 26th is a “Boo-thday” Tea to celebrate Glady’s birthday.
Yes, for those of you wondering Gladys is a real person!
Have a wonderful Thursday.
I’ll be back tomorrow with my Christmas Wish List Item #2 & a few updates from #projectmapleave

I received the latest Mobilia fall catalogue & I am loving some of the featured pieces.

Most of all I am loving this Brass Line floor lamp, it’s not on the online catalogue so sorry for the not so hot photo.

For fun I put together a little design board action using some of the pieces that caught my eye.

Have an awesome one friends!
