Progress Report – Project Maple Ave.

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

Happy Thursday.
A few weeks ago I shared the bath room finishes for Project Maple Ave.,  well the tiling has been completed on 3 of the 4 bathrooms.

Clean & refreshing.
The same 12 x 24 marble was used as the main floor tile & on the shower walls.

I like how the centre accent strip was bordered with a dark grey metallic listello

We wanted detail but keeping it simple at the same time. 12 x 24 Bianco Carrera marble
was used as the main tile and a 1 x1 version on the shower floor.

The simple bevelled subway tile was accented with a glass mosaic in matte, glossy & crackle finishes.

I am very pleased with how this floor turned out. A porcelain tile was dressed up with
an accent of marble mosaics to create stripes.
Things are moving along swimmingly so I will be back with more frequent updates.
Only 5 more days until the kiddies go back to school…I’m on the count down!

The Color Cord Company

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

I’m sure you’ve noticed the ultra simple industrial meets minimal lighting pendants that seem to be everywhere.
Color Cord Company, still in it’s freshman year offers pendants with a twist.
It’s basically a DIYer’s dream come true, choose your parts & assemble. With it’s selection colourful silicone socket cover options, coloured cords & bulb cages, the possibilities are endless.

I’m thinking a pair of these on O’s Room would be pretty great, with a lime green cord and a raw metal bulb cage.
Check out the complete collection from Color Cord Company here.
For those of you lucky beggars for punishment following the #30daysquatchallenge today is Day 13 & it calls for 130 squats. Good Luck!

25 Things You Don’t Know About Me #11 Stacey From Design Addict Mom

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorized6 Comments

Happy Tuesday!
The writer behind the blog Design Addict Mom is here to share her “25 Things’. Stacey’s piece of the blogosphere overflows with gorgeous & unique spaces that are truly eye-catching.
~~~~~~~~~~
1. I am an only girl.
2. I have a phallic fascination; always gravitate to art, or inanimate objects that look like a penis (maybe because I am from a family of all boys or I’m really weird?)
3. I was a model back in my younger days.
4. I don’t share towels, toothbrushes etc.
5. I hate a dirty microwave.
6. I usually cannot have dinner until the kitchen is tidy or the sink is empty. My eyes tend to wander when I eat and I like to see everything in its place.
7. I went to an all girls teachers’ college in Jamaica.
8. I was the youngest student in my first year in college; age 15.
9. I used to be very brilliant which explains #8. I say used to because after two kiddos and still suffering from sleep deprivation, not all brain cells function the way they used to.
10. I was a Spanish teacher for three years at a high school before I became an elementary school teacher. Spanish was my major before I went on to receive my Masters in Elementary Education.
11. I am not amicable before having coffee in the morning.
12. I cannot live without coffee.
13. I hate doing cleanses because they usually involve no coffee consumption.
14. I am scared of lightening and will hide in a closet if I have to.
15. At that all girls’ college that I mentioned above, there was a “no physical contact” rule when a girl’s boyfriend would visit etc. I broke that rule all the time. That was just ridiculous, right?
16. In High School, I was caught kissing a boy (so embarrassing) by a teacher. That boy is my hubby today.
17. Eating tiramisu is an orgasmic experience for me.
18. When we lived in Italy I accidentally burnt down a tree during Christmas time. Apparently, there were too many lights for the type of outlet I used. That’s when I learned the word brusciato (burnt in Italian). My Italian neighbours never let me forget that accident. The hubby was deployed at the time, so I had no guidance and I just wanted to light up the cypress tree.
19. I lick my hubby’s face if I’ve had too much to drink.
20. It doesn’t take much liquor for me to start the licking process.
21. I do not like frogs and toads.
22. I love to travel and to experience different cultures.
23. I don’t eat pork.
24. It annoys me when people don’t make eye contact during a conversation.
25. I always try to see the good in people.
Flower Power
I discovered a new fabric from Designers Guild
This is it.
Isn’t she pretty. Her name is Pandora – Peony. She will be coming to live with us as a pair of pillows on the living room sofa.
For fun I did a little design board to see how I liked this fabric, before I invest.
I love it!
 I also like the new coffee table, it will also go onto my wish list.
Have a wonderful Monday:)
Give A Piece A New Lease On Life #1
holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment
I mentioned in my 25 Things post here, that I love to scour my local Salvation Army home section for items that I can make my mark on. I do go other places besides the Sally Ann for my treasures. I like Moveline, garage sales, the odd HomeSense piece & the curb works for me too!
For those of you who don’t know about Moveline, it is a warehouse that sells furniture that originated for major hotel chairs around North America.
Below are some of my treasures.
I gold leafed this HomeSense tables steel base & finished the top with a multiple coats of high gloss white paint. It now sits in my family room.
I picked this up off the curb, it was in perfect condition. So, I upholstered the seat with a vintage fur jacket purchased from Kijiji & gave it a coat of black paint.
This pair of lamps came from a little shop in cottage country. I gave them a new coat of glossy turquoise paint, new crystals and white feather shades & quickly sold the pair!
This was my first Moveline purchase for $55. The chair was painted high gloss black & was upholstered in a Thom Filicia fabric with a black & white striped piping, it now sits proudly in my living room.
This stool had a beautiful wood carved base, but was well past it’s prime. After some white paint and  Lilly Pulitzer’s Tail Lights fabric it’s perfect.
This chair was from The Salvation Army I gave it lick of gold paint and a faux sheepskin upholstered seat. The same person who bought the stool above purchased this.
I’ve broken this into a 3 part series, since I have so many pieces to share with you.
If you have given a piece a new lease on life & want to share it here leave me a comment & I’ll feature it!
Thank goodness day #8 on the #30daysquatchallenge is a rest day…I’m sore!
Have a Great Weekend.
Stair Dreams
holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment
We have big thoughts for our existing stairs, but we have done a lot this year & completing this is going to be on hold, for longer than we expected. It’s going to be a big job, like move out of the house big.
We have an open plan, the main floor & the upper hall hardwood are a very warm, actually who am I kidding it’s orange & the entire staircase was stained to match the orange hardwood floor.
We have visions of replacing all of the hardwood in the house to the soft scraped 5″ black walnut character hardwood that we just installed in our master bedroom.
Replacing the wood spindles with a simple glass pane, maybe some floating stairs with a sleek walunt stained railing.
I also like the idea of having the existing staircase risers painted, an amazing metal railing & spindles & having the treads match the new walnut floors. This way I could keep a runner, there are so many amazing carpet options for runners. Why not have fun with it!
These are so playful & would be wonderful at the cottage.
Do you also have stair dreams?
If you haven’t already started the #30daysquatchallenge click here to see the daily numbers. I started it last Friday & my butt, quads & inner thighs are killing. I can only imagine what they will feel like after having to do 250 in a row- Lord help me.
Happy Hump day!
Happy Tuesday!
Let’s just cut to the chase shall we.
Today Bailey from Peppermint Bliss fame is here to share her “25 Things”. This gal has mad skills in the decor department. I love that she is fearless with colour & just about anything goes. Take a peek at some of her interiors.
Bailey also has a shop, Biscuit where you can purchase some delightful bed linens & other goodies.
~~~~~~~~~~

1. I have 3 hidden tattoos. They are all stupid.

2. I hate bananas.
3. I got kicked out of my boarding school senior year. #naughty
4. I am absolutely terrified of needles.
5. In 2006 I bought a 3 day pass to the ACL music festival in Austin. I arrived, used the portapotty, ate a cheeseburger, and left. Never to return.
6. Sometimes I forget to brush my teeth at night. And sometimes, when I do, I use my husband’s toothbrush when my perfectly good toothbrush is sitting right next to his. He doesn’t know this either.
7. I know a LOT of really violent and foul rap lyrics by heart. I memorized them all to impress a boy in high school.
8. I could happily eat buttered noodles every night for dinner.
9. I never liked breakfast until I discovered the Bacon Artisan Breakfast Sandwich from Starbucks, and I eat one most days, and it is the highlight of those days.
10. People always assume my favorite color is pink, it is not. Green is.
11. I used to exclusively wear high heels, but after breaking my foot 3 years ago I can’t ever wear them again.
12. I am allergic to mosquitos.
13. I went to college in DC before transferring to University of Texas.

17. I am a fancy gypsy. In the past 10 years I have lived in Connecticut, DC, Austin, Houston, and Chicago.
18. After my college graduation, my best friend and I took a 6 week roadtrip from Houston to Montreal and back. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
19. I wear bike shorts under dresses. Initially for modesty while playing with my baby girl, but now I like them also for their spanx-lite affects.
20. The term “Bride-Zilla” is super nerdy/annoying. I also probably was a bride-zilla and spent nearly 2 years engaged planning my wedding.
21. Cheesy as it sounds, I was in love at first site with my husband when we met Freshman year of college.
22. I have extra tiny hands.
23. If I could only go 5 places for the rest of my life, including where I live, they would be Houston, Aspen, Chicago, Cabo san Lucas, and The Amalfi Coast.

Week End Round Up

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorized1 Comment

This week end went by in a flash but it was a good one! How was yours?
I look care of a few small projects for B’s room, I promise it’s almost done. After some carpet cleaning & 2 small pieces of original art that are being created by the uber talented Darcy Allen, it will be officially complete!
If you recall I had ordered up some fabric from Spoonflower to cover a pair of lampshades from Target.
I was a little intimidated to do it, but I can say it was pretty easy. The first one was OK but the second was great, that’s to the help of some spray adhesive & a pretty braided ribbon to finish off the edges. This is what the shade looks like now.
The 2″ gold polka dots from Walls Need Love, finally got up on the ceiling & I adore them.  I put them up at random & I love that they are not perfectly placed and in a pattern so to speak.
We also celebrated my honey – on the left – & his twin brothers 40th birthday on Saturday with his family.
Just to remind you all that the #30daysquatchallenge started on Friday, today is a break day thanks goodness, cuz my hiney is KILLING!
Have a Super Duper Day!
