holliecooperinteriorsUncategorized1 Comment

Morning Y’all.
It’s a great day today, I woke up extra happy for some reason. I’m gonna chalk it up to all of the green juices I’ve been consuming! I have a few hours while the kiddies are at camp, so I’ll hit the gym & perhaps take in another episode of Under The Dome.
For today’s 25 thing guest post I am please to have Dominique.

Dominique’s fab piece of blog-land is,
Dominique labels her self as a fashionista turned domestic goddess, after she married her hottie of a husband & she shares her fabulous decor finds on Instagram. I look forward to the Wednesday Wish List & For Richer for Poorer posts & you always guarantee a pic or two of her super cute pooch Harper.

Take it away Domique!

25 Things you don’t know about me…and go!

1. My name was almost Angelica…and all I can think of is Angelica Pickles from Rugrats. Thanks Mom for NOT choosing that.
2. Dark chocolate covered raisins are my weakness or sour patch kids.
3. I grew up with crazy pets. Think lions, raccoons, deer, opossums and a kinkajou. Now go Google “kinkajou.” You know you want to…
4. I’m one of those people that love to paint. I think it’s relaxing and kind of fun!
5. I can memorize song lyrics after listening to a song once or twice. Even rap songs. Like line for line and it blows my husband’s mind!
6. I don’t like my foods to touch or any “juices” to be on my plate.
7. I was born with jet-black hair and like 5 inches of it.
8. I have a few OCD tendencies. Things organized in straight lines, towels folded certain ways and the bed made before I leave.
9. Any fat on steaks makes me want to vomit. I have to cut off every single piece before I start eating and then I still inspect each bite. Filet mignon is my friend.
10. I don’t drink caffeine. It gives me a headache. Weird I know…
11. I despise snakes…they give me the creeps. And yes there was one in my house growing up and it escaped while I was home alone…I stuffed blankets under my door and stayed in my room until my parents got home to catch it.
12. I broke 3 vertebrates in my back while doing gymnastics the summer before high school.
13. I want to learn how to paint/draw and upholster furniture.
14.  I’ve never really owned a pair of shorts…until this year.
15. I have severe seasonal allergies.
16.  I love cheese. All kinds. I don’t discriminate.
17. I have a brother who is 9 years older than me.
18. Sometimes I secretly miss being in college.
19. I hate public speaking…it terrifies me.
20. Mary Poppins is one of my favorite movies. Like ever.
21. I eat a turkey sandwich for lunch almost on the daily.
22. My nickname growing up was Double Dommer because of all the flipping I did…thanks to gymnastics.
23. In middle school I took 2 lions cubs to school for show-n- tell…Needless to say I made A LOT of friends that day.
24. I have a slight obsession with dresses. It’s kind of a problem…

25. I love kids.

Thanks Dominique for sharing your 25!  I can totally relate to being terrified of snakes & speaking in public. I’ll save you all the google search, here’s a kinkajou.

Happy Monday!

We had a great weekend, did you too? Here is some of my weekend in pictures.

Friday we went to the splash pad with some friend & this is what happened when B & her gal pal got a hold on my phone.

There are 3 more videos just like this and LOTS of selfies!

I managed to get a ton of sewing to get ready for the shop re-opening on Thursday.

Last night I juiced – never thought I would love these veggies drinks like I do. It’s lots of work & the amount of veggies that go into one drink is insane, but I guess you can’t have too may right?

Well that’s it, nothing too exciting over here.

Make sure you stop by again tomorrow Dominique for Comfy Cozy Couture will be here with her “25 Things”

My Latest & Favourites

During my daily web crawl while sourcing items for clients I find a thing or two that I really want like.
I am trying a few new things, cuz I don’t really need anything & wanting to hold onto my money to save & pay off some debit.
1. Plan our weekly meals loosely, so we eat out a lot less.
2. Make a list when I go to the grocery store & only buy what’s on it.
3. Limit my Timmy runs to only a few times a week apposed to 1 or 2x’s per day.
4.Besides the weeks they are in summer camps, do fun activities with that kids that are free.
So, with trying to stick to the said list, my lusting continues.

Sorry for the late post today, but as the saying goes better late than never, right!

The past 3 days days have been super challenging. My kiddies are the awesomest, but after spending a week away at the cottage, with Mimi & Papa Dave they came back & it’s like have forgotten each and every rule we have for our home. Isn’t it like an unspoken rule amongst all the grandparent out there  that there are no rules, cuz they can just give the kids back when their time with them is over? That all sounds well and good for a day, but after a week it takes a bit of time to the them back on routine.
Bedtime has become a bit of a nightmare for O, not to the extreme, like the kind you see on Super Nanny or anything like that. My little guy only wants to sleep on the couch, is up and down out of this room like a yo-yo. I have to give O credit, he makes up the most ridiculous excuses in a way that only a 4 year old can, as to why he can’t sleep in his room. I know it’s all because he is tired.
On the upswing I am so glad to have them home I missed them more than you could imagine & I know that in a few more days things will be back to normal, well our normal that is!
The first thing B wanted to do was see her new room & when she walked in, she took a huge gasp & her eyes were bugging out. I knew that she loved it & she’s been having tea parties ever since.
Being a parent is hard, but also the greatest & most rewarding job. So with that I also want to wish this new little family all the best

& in honour of the little price I have put together a nursery, my version, royal style!

See you back here tomorrow!

25 Things You Don’t Know About Me #7 – Julie from Elliven

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorized6 Comments

It’s Tuesday so that means it’s time for another “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me”.

Today’s “25” are coming from Julie

 over at

Like most of the guest post bloggies I have had over here on TPZ, I also “met” Julie through Instagram and began reading her daily posts over at Elliven. If you haven’t given her a read, start now.

~~~~~~~~~~
Here you go!
1- I only started to wear my hair down curly 1.5 years ago. Gosh I wish I had done it sooner.
2- Chocolate almonds are my weakness. You can almost always find a bag of them in the fridge at our house.
3- I absolutely love the water but I’m a terrible swimmer.
4- Speaking of water, I dream of owning a cottage one day.  I’d paint the interior all white and would have blue accents. Can’t you just see it???  You’d all be invited.
5- My nose sweats.  Yeah. Totally weird.
6- If I have one too many drinks, I’m all of a sudden totally fluent in french.
7- I met my husband in high school.  We started dating when I was 15 and just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary.  Awwww
8- I always wanted a super long veil & train like Maria’s on The Sound Of Music.  So I made it happen for our wedding.
9- I’m known for getting sayings or words wrong.  Like calling windchill – windshield….up until last year.
10- I absolutely love old homes, but could never live in one.  I have a crazy imagination and would definitely see things.
11- I’m obsessed with Kate Middleton.  I honestly think we’d be the best of friends.  That would be brilliant!
12- I’m a middle child (two sisters) and think that the middle child syndrome is a myth. I love being the middle child!
13- I love to rap or maybe what I do is more like rhyming.  Either way, I love it, though I’m sure my family would prefer if I didn’t!
14- I not only love to rap/rhyme but I also love to dance. I dream of being part of a soul train line.  I mean, seriously.  How fun would that be?!
15- I always wanted to learn how to skateboard.  Hubs taught me how to ollie and I can’t get enough! I look like a complete loon but it’s so fun!
16- I think the word holla is totally awesome and the everyone should be required to use it at least 20 times a day.
17- I’m very stubborn. Bless my husband for being able to put up with me! ha!
18- I used to always say that I’d never move from Ottawa.  I’ve now lived in three different cities across Canada (we’re an air force family) and am so thankful for the chance to explore this amazing country of ours!
19- My mum has blonde hair and blue eyes.  People sometimes didn’t believe that she was my mum.
20- I was told that I write the way I speak and that I use a lot of exclamation points when I write.  I love that!!!
21- I love the saying “when they zig, you zag” but sometimes I take it to the extreme and should zig with everyone else.
22- I totally memorized the moves to Ice Ice Baby when it first came out and would perform in front of anyone who would watch.
23- After I had my second child someone who lived a few houses down from me said “I would have never known that you were that small”.  Pregnancy does not suit me.
24- Truth: wax museums freak.me.out.
25- I played volleyball in college, which some may find hard to believe since I’m only 5’3″
Thanks again for asking me to take part, I love it!
~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks Julie for putting together such a great list

See you all back here tomorrow

Holla!

Project B’s Room is almost there & An After…

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorized2 Comments

It’s Friday & this week being kid less is flown by super fast, I’ve gotten lots done & there are still a few things I want to check off the list before B&O get home tomorrow evening. Oh how I miss them, but B is going to have a big surprise when she gets home. I hope I’m not boring you all with this project, cuz it’s not offically over, even though I’m going to show you the almost afters! To refresh your memory here is what the room looked like before.

I am so please with how B’s room has come together. This is definitely a more sophisticated room that she can grow into over the years, but has all of the little touches that my little girls is all about. A tea party with a few of her cuddly friends, lots of books, and behind the door is a tall door mounted mirror & hooks on the wall with lots of dress up clothes.
 The open reach in closet is exactly what I has envisioned. Shoes storage, open display for hair accessories, music boxes, trinkets. The open space at the top could have had a shelf but I opted to keep it open to allow for a few pieces of art & her collection of B’s. On the top shelf I shadow boxed a pink onsie of B’s that she wore when she was first born, at 2 pounds 11 ounces, it was too big, this reminds me of how tiny she once was  & how far she has come.
If I can toot my own horn, I am completely over the moon happy with the hand painted drapes I made for B. Although the colour is a bit more flouescent pink that I was anticipating I love them & the big pom pom fringe down both sides is killer. If anyone out there is interested, you can hire me to paint/make some for you!
The art over the bed is from Bonjour Frenchie  & the pink carousel photo is from Kathy Fornal & the Nutcracker piece hung in my room when I was little, but I had since had it reframed.
The pillows on the bed were made by me in this amazing Kravet fabric, the sheets and quilted bedspread were both from HomeSense & the fluffy throw is IKEA.
 Her room is now 95% complete. I still have to put the gold polka dot decals on the ceiling from Walls Need Love, I was super excited to see that delivery waiting for me yesterday but after reading the instructions it said to wait 2-3 weeks before applying to new paint to allow it to cure (seriously!). I suppose I should follow the instructions. The fabric from Spoonflower is on it’s way for the 2 lampshades & the carpet still needs shampooing, but other thank that it’s a wrap!
Lastly I have a quick Before & After of a few pieces I had reupholstered for a client.
Befores

Afters

That’s it folks I off to to a little downward dog, some warrior poses & maybe even a headstand.
The Mr. took the day off work so I’m hoping we can go sit on a patio later this afternoon.
Have a fantastic weekend.

A Place to Chill

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

With yet another insane day of heat & humidity before us, I wish that I had a place like this to chill, sip on some homemade lemonade, read a book & maybe even have a little cat nap.
How are you planning to beat the heat?

25 Things You Don’t Know About Me #6 – Kate from Kate Collins Interiors

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorized1 Comment

It’s Tuesday so that means it’s “25 Things” time again.
Today Kate from Kate Collins Interiors is sharing & she’s got a good list. I first “met” Kate on Instagram, isn’t that how most people meet now & began to read her fab little piece of blogger-land! Kate had commented on how she loved this series so I asked if she would like to participate and I’m glad that I did.

For those of you you who are not familiar with Kate, she’s got a great eye, is not afraid of colour & is wonderful at mixing the new & old with just enough global influences to add some extra detail & warmth.
Just look & see.

Take it away Kate!

1.) I have stood in quick sand (don’t worry – I got out).
2.)  I purchased a hand carved wooden shark in a small town in South Africa that I had to carry around for 14 days as I travelled around South Africa and Namibia (it wouldn’t fit in my suitcase).
3.) Once I reached the South Africa airport, I purchased a JuJu hat.  I then had a wooden shark and JuJu hat as carry ons for my 26 hour flight home.
4.) I hate mixing hot and cold foods.  Cold ice cream with hot pie?  No way!!  Just the pie please.
5.) I don’t like cake.
6.) I really hated cooking until about three weeks ago.  I guess having a baby changed me.
7.) I grew up with three brothers and I have a tomboy side to me.
8.) I’m absolutely horrible at sports.  I always sat the bench as a kid.
9.) Growing up we had pigs, goats, chickens, guinea pigs, dogs, cats, bunnies, and a parakeet.  We didn’t live on a farm – in fact, I grew up in the bustling silicon valley in Northern California.
10.) I’m a bachelor/bachelorette addict and I can’t seem to outgrow it.  Every season I develop a crush on someone.
11.) I originally thought I would make and sell pillows instead of decorating.  I soon realized I am a HORRIBLE sewer and I have zero patience for a sewing machine.
12.)   I have my masters in education and before I started Kate Collins Interiors, I was a second grade teacher.
13.) As a child, I was obsessed with the idea of going to Canada for a vacation.  One year, we were on a road trip in Washington and my dad drove way out of the way to the Canadian border.  We drove through the border and turned around so that I could say I had been to Canada.
14.) My husband’s family is South African; as a result, I’ve been to Africa three times so far.  I plan to go many more times.
15.) I have a fear of flying.
16.) In the past ten years, I have lived in New York, Chicago and San Francisco.  I’m not sure I could pick a favourite city out of those three.  I love them all!
17.) I have a big plan that my five month old daughter, Josie, will study abroad in Paris one day.
18.) The last time I was in Paris, my husband and I sang “Low Places” by Garth Brooks in a karaoke bar like obnoxious Americans.  The rest of the trip we were much more subtle.
19.) I have touched a lion’s tongue while he was sleeping.
20.) I went to surf camp.
21.) I have kept a journal since the second grade.
22.) I went to college in Walla Walla, Washington…a town so nice, they named it twice.
23.) I rarely drink coffee – it gives me the jitter bugs.
24.) I have a thing where I want to be the last one up at a party, no matter how tired I am.
25.) Nothing makes me happier than a good shelter magazine, a cup of dark hot chocolate, the ocean on a slightly foggy day and my family.

Thanks for sharing Kate.

Have an awesome day & stay hydrated it’s going to be a hot one today!

Back to our Regularly Scheduled Programming

holliecooperinteriorsUncategorizedLeave a Comment

I have been a very bad blogger the last few weeks. With school ending and the kids home I have become easily distracted, but I am back to our regularly scheduled programming.

The hubs & I attended the wedding of one of my co-workers yesterday & it was lovely. The bride was stunning & the weather could not have been better. While, B&O left for the cottage on Saturday for a whole week, I’m not really sure what to do with myself! Well I do, there’s a list as long as my arm that I want to get thorough, but it’s weird not having them around!

Project B’s Room is coming along so nicely, painting is happening as we speak, moulding up , closet is in, drapery are waiting, hanging light fixture is painted, bedding has been purchased, washed and ready to go. I’m just waiting on the gold ceiling decals. One thing I’ve yet to find is a fabric to cover 2 lamp shades. I headed over to Spoonflower, there is so much to see. I knew I wanted something  in simple & black & white.
I found a few. Here are the 3 that I have narrow the choices down to. Thoughts?

While I sourcing the lamp shade fabric I did find some others that I quite liked. Many of the fabric offered at Spoonflower can be made into fabric, wallpaper, gift wrap, & wall decals. You can also select from a few different types of cloth to have you fabric printed on & the cost is very reasonable to boot.

Click here to visit Spoonflower. If you don’t see anything that you like you can also have your own design or photos made into a fabric or wall covering.

This is the last day to grab some Pillotopia at 65% OFF (coupon code CLEAROUT65) The shop closes this evening at 9pm & will re open August 1st with all new inventory!

I’ll see you hack here tomorrow with “25 Things You Don’t Know About Kate from Kate Collins Interiors”
